Arid Lands Institute - Spring 2010 Design Workshops

I am heading tomorrow to the first of three design workshops offered by the Arid Lands Institute at Woodbury University focusing on "Smart Design Strategies for Managing Water + Energy in a Changing Climate."  The free workshops are designed to introduce laypeople, developers, stakeholders, and design professionals alike to water- and energy-conserving design strategies.  This weekend will look at Green Roofs / Green Walls, with a focus on their application to an arid environment such as Los Angeles.  While I feel well-versed in the basics of green roofs and green walls, I am excited to learn from the expertise of the guest speakers, hear about some regionally relevant case studies, and participate in a dialogue about sustainable design strategies for Los Angeles.
